What do you do when the sentences stop streaming, the plot ceases plodding ahead, the characters quit cooperating, enthusiasm takes an exit?
Experiment #15: Pivot
Work on something else. Write something new. Rewrite something old. Revise something. Edit something. Take one sentence you like and make it the first sentence of something different.
Change a scene’s point of view. Change the weather. Change the setting. Change the tone. Change the emotions. Change the dialogue. Combine scenes together. Take scenes apart.
Work on a different paragraph, scene, section, chapter. Work out of chronological order. Work in chronological order. Write the scene you keep thinking about. Write what happens next in brackets [and keep writing]. Just keep writing something.
