Most of us started making up stories because we discovered storytelling and writing are a lot of fun. Limited only by our imagination, with a few pen strokes, keyboards taps, or spoken words, we can weave new worlds filled with new characters.
Whether writing is your full-time job or one of your hobbies, there will be seasons when the thing that usually brings you joy will be more frustrating than fun. To finish a story sometimes, the only way out of the slog is to slog through it.
However, writers can tap into their imagination and find the fun, even in the middle of a writing slump.
In no particular order throughout September, my new daily blog series, “Find the Fun,” will feature a different experiment every day that you can conduct to reintroduce fun and play into your writing life.

These are experiments, not mandates. Some experiments will be contradictory, and not all of them will work for all writers or projects.
Just like any other advice, your mileage will vary; explore what seems promising, discard the rest, repeat.
Don’t forget to find the fun, and don’t forget to keep writing.
